PURPOSE: A file explorer of a portable terminal, and a method for copying and moving file by using the file explorer are provided to arrange a buffer for copying or moving a file, and to copy or move a file by using a GUI(Graphic User Interface). CONSTITUTION: A user selects a file in a search window, drags and drops the selected file to a buffer window for storing a path of the file to be copied or moved. The user sets a target folder, where the file is to be copied or moved, in the search window. Then, the user drags and drops the file, which is currently positioned at the buffer window, to the search window, and selects a copying or a moving menu in an activated pop-up menu for copying or moving the selected file to the selected folder.
