PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce unnecessary starts of electronic devices by enabling exact starting of an electronic device, reflecting the intention of the user, in starting the outage state of the electronic device. SOLUTION: A vibration-type gyroscope 1 with a vibrator built in is used and by detecting the rotational angular velocity added to the vibrator, the starting conditions of the electronic device 4 are detected. Incidental shocks which are not based on the intention of the user has only small rotational angular velocity components, and the shocks are constituted mainly of linear acceleration components. Accordingly, by starting the electronic device on the basis of the rotational angular velocity, unnecessary starts can be reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
