PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control system capable of coping with simultaneous accesses from a plurality of users to an objective apparatus to be controlled at a subscriber side by specifying and managing a portable terminal to be remotely controlled. SOLUTION: A connection management center apparatus 3 transmits an remote control authentication menu in response to the request of the remote control authentication menu from a portable terminal 1a, receives the authentication menu to which authentication information is entered, performs authentication on the basis of the authentication information when the control menu is requested, generates unique user identification information, connects with the apparatus 12a to be controlled to request the apparatus 12a to transmit state information, generates the control menu when receiving the state information, transmits the menu to the portable terminal 1a together with user identification information, discriminates the user identification information attached to the control menu when the portable terminal 1a transmits the control menu to which the control information is entered to the apparatus 3, and transmits the control information to the apparatus 12a to be controlled to control the apparatus 12a to be controlled.
