PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a joint cover device which is free from damage even if an obstacle such as a column exists on a joint side, and right and left buildings across a joint portion are rocked differently right and left at the time of an earthquake or the like, and automatically returns to its original position after rocking. SOLUTION: The joint cover device is formed of right and left joint covers, right and left sliding joint plates, and an energizing mechanism. Each joint cover covers the joint portion between the joint-side wall surface of one of buildings, and a right or left floor skeleton or a ceiling member except for the column or the like existing on the joint side of the other building. The joint cover has one end mounted on the joint-side wall surface of the one building and the other end thereof slidably borne to the floor skeleton or the ceiling member, and is formed like a cylinder or a lip channel. Each sliding joint plate is slidably mounted on each of the right and left joint covers in order to cover the joint portion having the column or the like, and formed so as to have a slant surface at a location that abuts on the column or the like.
