PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To constantly obtain a correct white balance without depending on photographic conditions. SOLUTION: This white balance adjustment method is provided with a division process for dividing a signal from an image pickup device into a plurality of blocks, a calculation process for calculating a group of color evaluation values by every one of the plurality of blocks, a first color temperature calculation process (S502) for calculating a first piece of color temperature information from the group of color evaluation values and a preset white detection range, a second color temperature calculation process (S501) for calculating a second piece of color temperature information from the group of color evaluation values and a preset skin detection area, a measurement process (S504) for measuring distance to an object and a third color temperature calculation process (S503) for calculating a third piece of color temperature information based on the first piece of color temperature information, the second piece of color temperature information and distance information measured in the measurement process.
