PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetoresistive effect head in which a mounted magneto-resistance effect element is not electrostatically broken. SOLUTION: A conductive film 18 having ground potential is formed on the sliding surface 12 with a magnetic tape. Since the conductive film is formed on the sliding surface of the magnetic tape, in this magnetoresistive effect head, an electrified magnetic tape is not brought into contact with the magnetoresistive effect element exposed to the sliding surface of the magnetic tape.
