PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium small in recording characteristic difference betwean an inner circumferential side and an outer circumferential side, and to provide a method for producing the medium. SOLUTION: The method for producing the optical recording medium includes: a step of coating a dye solution on a substrate by a spin coating method to form a dye recording layer, wherein the substrate is rotated at a rotation speed lower than during a period from the beginning to the end of the supply of the dye solution in the sequence from beginning to the end of the supply of the dye solution.
