PURPOSE: A surface hardening heat treatment method of a roller is provided to produce the roller with excellent wear resistance by improving hardness for a partial surface of the roller through heat treatment by irradiating laser beams. CONSTITUTION: A surface hardening heat treatment method of a roller(11) coats powders formed by mixing one or two of nickel powders, chrome powders, cobalt powders, a tungsten carbide, a metallic carbide, and a metallic oxide on a partial surface of the carbon steel roller and heats and self-cools the coated surface with a laser beam(15). The roller is applied with carbon steel with the carbon content of 0.1¯1.0wt%. A CO2(Carbon Dioxide) laser or an Nd-YAG(Neodymium-Yttrium Aluminum Garnet) laser is used for the laser beam. Accordingly, the absorption efficiency of the laser is increased by coating the powders over the surface of the roller. |
