PREPARATION OF MAGNESIUM OXIDE POWDER WITH GOOD CHEMICAL RESISTANCE AND MAGNESIUM OXIDE POWDER PREPARED THEREFROM

PURPOSE: Provided is a preparation method of magnesium oxide(MgO) powder with good chemical resistance and stability in the air by coating MgO powder with silane compounds. CONSTITUTION: The MgO powder is prepared by the following steps of: adding MgO powder to water or alcohol-based solvent; adding 0.1-10pts.wt.(based on 100pts.wt. of MgO) of silane compounds and mixing for 6-24hrs. at room temperature for coating the surface of MgO powder with silane compounds, wherein the silane compounds are 3-triethoxysilylpropyl methacrylate, 3-aminopropyltrimethoxy silane, triethoxy vinyl silane and 3-aminopropyltriethoxy silane; washing reactants of MgO and silane compounds with solvent(water) to remove unreacted silane compounds; drying silane-coated MgO powder under 60deg.C through spraying or hot blasting; grinding lumps of MgO powder to a size of 1micrometer - 1mm.
