<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight assembly capable of enlarging a light source part. <P>SOLUTION: In a light guide plate 120, the distance between a reflecting surface 122 for reflecting a light from a light source 110 and emitting surface 123 for emitting the reflected light is smaller than the height of an incident surface 121 for light incident. Specifically, an optical sheet 130 provided on the emitting surface 123 can be positioned lower than the upper end of the incident surface 121. Even if the number and the size of the light sources are increased, only the height of the incident surface 121 of the light guide plate is increased, with the distance between the emitting surface 123 and the reflecting surface 122 being maintained as it is. This secures enough light strength, allowing light efficiency of the backlight assembly 100 to increase and thus preventing the overall thickness of the backlight assembly 100 from increasing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
