摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-speed sub-band dividing apparatus with high conversion efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: An input image signal s10 is connected to a sub-band dividing filter 11 for performing lateral sub-band division of a first step, and an output s11-1 of a low frequency component of the sub-band dividing filter is connected to a sub-band dividing filter 12 for performing lateral sub-band division of the next step. On the other hand, an output s11-2 of a high frequency component of the sub-band dividing filter 11 is connected to a memory 14 for storing the lateral sub-band divided result. The output of the sub-band dividing filter of the second step is also performed similarly to the sub-band dividing filter of the first step. Thus, (n) steps of sub-band dividing filters are cascade connected to perform (n) steps of lateral sub-band division. Besides, an output of the memory 14 is connected to a sub-band dividing filter 15 for performing longitudinal sub-band division of a first step, processing is performed similarly to the lateral sub-band division, and a high frequency component is outputted to the outside. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p>
