PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that it takes time to perform time shift reproduction until completion of the reproduction in the conventional time shift reproduction, and the reproduced video is confused. SOLUTION: The summary video chasing reproduction apparatus comprises a signal receiving part 100 which receives video data, a timing discrimination part 103 which discriminates whether summary video is generated or not according to the received video content, a summary method specifying part 104 which specifies a generation method of the summary video, a summary video generation part 105 which generates a summary video from a received video stored in an video data storing part in a method specified by the summary method specifying part according to a request from the timing discrimination part, and a summary video reproduction part 106 which reproduces a summary video generated by the summary video generation part.
