<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new foldable portable device in which the attitudes of two units can be easily controlled with a simple structure, and to provide a hinge mechanism thereof. <P>SOLUTION: An upper unit 100 and a lower unit 200 are coupled with each other by a hinge 300 so that they can be opened/closed and swivelled. The hinge portion swivels the upper unit around an opening/closing shaft 305, and swivels it in right and left directions around a fixed shaft. Protruded portions 306a, 306b are fixed on the opening/closing shaft, and a cone and trapezoidally protruded portion for control is fixed on the fixed shaft. The protruded portions abut against the side surface of the protruded member for control, thereby restricting the movement of the upper unit in an opening/closing direction and a swivelling direction. The attitude of the upper unit can be controlled in various ways, according to the side surface shape of the protruded portion for control. Also, a recessed portion 303a for controlling the movement in a swivelling direction is provided on the protruded portion for control, thereby preventing the contact surfaces of both the units from being worn with the units closed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
