<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce fuel consumption regardless of largeness of an engine load while placing emphasis upon the reduction of the fuel consumption in an engine low load state, in a stroke variable engine that comprises a connecting rod of which one end is connected with a piston via a piston pin, a sub arm of which one end is turnably connected with the other end of the connecting rod and is connected with a crankshaft via a crank pin, and a control rod of which one end is connected with the sub arm in a position shifted from the coupling position with the connecting rod, and can displace a support position of the other end of the control rod in a plane orthogonal to the axial line of the crankshaft. <P>SOLUTION: A high expansion ratio state where a stroke of the piston 38 in an expansion process is larger than that in a compression process when the engine load is large and a constant compression ratio state when the engine load is small are exchanged by a changeover means 88. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
