PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To convert an inputted black and white image into a color signal of an image output device to be outputted in a preferable color. SOLUTION: An inputted black and while signal is converted into a first signal concerning lightness, the first signal is converted into a second signal concerning a distance traveled on a chromaticity point locus, the second signal is converted into a third signal concerning chromaticity points, and the first signal and the third signal are converted into color signals of the image output device. The chromaticity point locus is one of a reproduced color of the image output device concerning the black and while signal, and includes a predetermined chromaticity point.
