PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling method capable of promoting a reduction in power consumption and noise when a large scale electric apparatus is cooled by a system comprising a large number of fans. SOLUTION: An electric apparatus 1 comprises a plurality of pairs of temperature sensors 51-55 and fans 41-45 and performs rotation control of the fan based on the temperature detected by the sensor. One of a plurality of control functions having hysteresis is selected through rotation control when cooling is performed. The plurality of control functions have a different operating temperature range of fan, respectively. Control function of the fan is selected to minimize the number of fans operating at each temperature. In the selected drawing, fans 42 and 44 are subjected to rotation control with a control function for operating the fan at high temperatures, and thereby they do not operate at low temperatures. Furthermore, a space 3 for making possible to suck air even from a region where the fan is not operating is provided between the fan and a rack 2 in order to reduce power consumption and noise furthermore.
