<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the powers of musical performance expression by realizing, with a simple configuration, musical sound effect control corresponding to a music playing operation. <P>SOLUTION: A fret switch FSW and an after switch ASW are provided which detect whether a fret operation element 35 is pressed and how strong the element is pressed for each fret operator 35. The switch FSW detects whether the fret operator 35 is pressed or released from pressing and determines a sounding indication pitch PIT(ch). When only one switch ASW corresponding to a trigger member 51 is turned on in a string twang, shallow/deep vibratos are given within a range of frequency amplitudes VIBD set to shallow/deep values according to whether the switch ASW is turned on shallowly/deeply. When two or three or more switches are turned on at the same time, choking for raising the PIT(ch) by a half or whole tone is applied.
