<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame retardant resin composition which does not foam during forming to produce formed articles even when the composition is stored in a high temperature and high humidity environment or there is any time lag after the resin bag for storing the composition is opened until the composition is formed to produce formed articles, and to provide wires and cables using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The flame retardant resin composition comprises a resin composition at least comprising a polyolefin resin and a grind of natural minerals mainly composed of magnesium hydroxide, wherein the water content of the resin composition is controlled to 600 ppm or less. The flame retardant resin composition is imparted with high flame retardancy and mechanical strength and is prevented from foaming during forming to produce formed articles such as wires and cables.
