PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retrieval system for retrieving a database for reducing the burden on a user by automatically generating a retrieval formula from a document browsed by a user. SOLUTION: This document retrieval system is provided to automatically generate a retrieval formula necessary for retrieval processing from a document which is being browsed by a user at present and information accompanied with the document, the history of the document browsed in the past and information accompanied with the document and the history of retrieval words designated by the user in the past.
