PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal medium having a wide nematic phase range, an appropriate optical anisotropyΔn in a display mode used, a highΔεand especially low viscosity. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal medium comprises a component A which is a dielectrically positive component comprising one or more kinds of dielectrically positive compounds represented by a specific chemical formula and one or more kinds of dielectrically positive compounds selected from the group of multiple specific chemical formulae.
