PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymerizable swallow-tail type liquid crystalline composition excellent in compatibility and an optically anisotropic body excellent in transparency. SOLUTION: The polymerizable compound is expressed by general formula (1). The polymerizable liquid crystalline composition contains a polymerizable compound expressed by general formula (3). In each of the formulae, Y<SP>1</SP>to Y<SP>4</SP>express each a linkage group; X<SP>1</SP>to X<SP>6</SP>express each a single bond or the like; S<SP>1</SP>to S<SP>6</SP>express each a spacer; Z<SP>1</SP>and Z<SP>2</SP>express each -OCO-CH<SB>2</SB>-CH<SB>2</SB>-Cl, -OCO-CH=CH<SB>2</SB>, -OCO-C(CH<SB>3</SB>)=CH<SB>2</SB>, -OCO-CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>OH, -OH, -OCO-CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>-OCO-CH=CH<SB>2</SB>, -OCO-CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>-OCO-C(CH<SB>3</SB>)=CH<SB>2</SB>, -CH=CH<SB>2</SB>, -OCO-CH=CH<SB>2</SB>, -OCO-C(CH<SB>3</SB>)=CH<SB>2</SB>, -CO-CH<SB>3</SB>or -CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>Cl; Z<SP>3</SP>expresses Cl or CH<SB>3</SB>-CO-O-.
