The stepless load splitting gearbox (1) has an input (5) from the internal combustion engine driving first (2) and second (3) change speed gearboxes in parallel. A belt and adjustable pulley (9) and a planetary drive mechanism (4) combines the outputs (7,8) of the gearboxes to produce a single output (6) to drive the wheels. The outputs are divided (10,12) to give direct drive to the planetary gear and drive through the belt and adjustable pulley mechanism. Power may flow through this mechanism in either direction.
