Method for providing an additional bonus win for a gambling machine in which the number of games or lost games is counted and stored in a first memory by a control unit. When a limit is exceeded the value is stored in a second plug in memory unit together with a bonus win amount. To pay the bonus out, the memory unit is unplugged from the gambling machine and plugged into a second read-write unit in an external bonus unit. The bonus unit is then used to pay out the stored additional win amount.
