The flow forming ring is used in combination with other such rings to produce hollow metal bodies such as drink cans. Each flow forming ring consists of a n outer reinforcing ring (6) with deforming ring (7) inside it, round which is a support reinforcement (8). The outer ring is steel, the deforming ring is ceramic and the support reinforcement is of hard metal.
