PURPOSE: An automatic document feeder is provided to easily replace a friction pad with new one and prevent more than two documents from sliding into a multifunction peripheral at a time. CONSTITUTION: An automatic document feeder(100) includes a flatten cover(101), a document tray(110), a pick-up assembly(200), and a pad holder. The flatten cover covers a copy area. The document tray is provided on the flatten cover. Documents to be provided to the copy area are stacked on the document tray. The pick-up assembly includes a pick-up roller for picking up the documents stacked on the document tray to transfer the documents to a paper-feeding path, and a feeding roller for receiving the documents picked up by the pick-up roller to load the received documents on the paper-feeding path. The pick-up assembly rotates the pick-up roller along the rotation axis of a shaft of the feeding roller by a predetermined distance. The pad holder holds a friction pad disposed in contact with the feeding roller.
