METHOD FOR PRODUCING CARBOXYLIC ACID

A method for producing a carboxylic acid, which comprises reacting an aldehyde-containing oily solution with an aqueous hydrogen peroxide solution in the presence of a catalyst comprising a polymer compound having a sulfonic acid group in a side chain thereof in a heterogeneous system. The method allows the production of a carboxylic acid under mild conditions having little adverse effect including toxicity on the environment or a human body, with simple and easy operations, without the need of the operation for removing a solvent, with good efficiency.
