PURPOSE: A packet processing apparatus in RPR(Resilient Packet Ring) network is provided to enhance reliability of data transmission by processing an RPR control packet regardless of a host processor. CONSTITUTION: Physical layer connectors(301,305) physically match inputted packets. RPR MACs(302,306) process a fairness packet among inputted packets, and check a header of the remaining packets and process it. A node processor(309) generates an IPS packet and a topology packet transferred from the RPR MACs(302,306) and processes them. Host processors(304,308) generate data packets transferred from the RPR MACs(302,306), and process them. Packet detecting units(303,307) classify packets inputted from the RPR MACs(302,306), transfers the topology packet to the node processor(309), and removes an RPR header from a data packet and transfers it in an Ethernet frame form to the host processors(304,308), and adds an RPR header to an inputted data packet by the host processors(304,308), and then transfers it to the RPR MAC. |
