PURPOSE: A digital camera informing a user of inappropriate photographing state and a method for controlling the digital camera are provided to inform the user that the user erroneously photographs an image using the digital camera. CONSTITUTION: A digital camera includes an optical system(OPS), a photo-electric converter(OEC), an analog-digital converter(501), a digital signal processor(507), a display(35), and a controller(512). The optical system includes a plurality of lenses to optical process lights from an object. The photo-electric converter converts lights from the optical system into an electric analog signal. The analog-digital converter converts the electric analog signal into a digital signal. The digital signal processor processes the digital signal and provides the processed digital signal to a user. The display displays an image of the object in response to the digital signal output from the digital signal processor. The controller controls the operation of the digital camera.
