The upper body training device has a belt (11) with two associated cords (3',3'') attached to it at the their ends and provided with handles (1',1'') at their other free ends. The cords can each be unwound from a respective cable drum against a spring force. The cords are not extendible and the cable drums are integrated into the handles.
