PURPOSE: An apparatus for protecting edge heater is provided to block the high pressure water so that high pressure water scattered from descaler is not scattered to a side of the edge heater through a space between upper and lower rollers of horizontal pinch rolls generated due to width variation of rolling material. CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus for protecting edge heater comprising horizontal pinch rolls(50) installed in front of descaler to block scattering of high pressure water to the edge heater(20) from the descaler during the hot rolling process and remove moisture on the surface of a rolling material(10) generated by the high pressure water, the apparatus comprises a pair of vertical rollers(100) respectively arranged at both sides in front of horizontal pinch rolls(50) to block high pressure water of the descaler scattered to the edge heater(20) so that the pair of vertical rollers are rotated to the rolling material according to width variation of the rolling material charged into between the pair of vertical rollers through roller table; a roller guide(200) comprising a fixed end(210) fixed to both ends of the vertical rollers respectively and a free end(220) horizontally extended from the fixed end, wherein the roller guide is rotated around the free end to rotate the vertical rollers; a step motor(300) both ends of rotation shaft of which are connected to the free end of the roller guide to rotate the roller guide; and a control part(400) for controlling a rotational angle of the vertical rollers by controlling a rotational angle of the rotation shaft of the step motor according to width of the rolling material.
