PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to reduce a processing time by using a light curing sealant and prevent contamination of the LCD by the sealant. CONSTITUTION: The second substrate is divided into a dummy region and an active region(320). A color filter array is formed at the active region(320). A black matrix layer(330) for blocking light of a backlight is formed at the dummy region positioned at the outline of the active region(320). By patterning the outer circumference surface of the black matrix layer(330), the prominence and depression portions are formed partly at the black matrix layer(330), so that paths capable of irradiating light are formed. The prominence and depression portion has the depth which is the same as the width of the sealant or which is lower than the width of the sealant.
