The invention relates to a cannula (1) for a medical or dental medical handpiece (61a) used for spraying a flow medium (6) containing abrasive particles. Said cannula comprises an essentially straight cannula shaft (3) and a laterally extending discharge nozzle (4) that is located in the front end area of the cannula shaft (3). A first duct section (7a) of a supply line (5), from which a second duct section (7b) extends laterally to the discharge nozzle (4), extends in an axial manner towards the front within the cannula shaft (3). In order to extend the service life of the cannula, an impact wall (13) is disposed axially opposite the first duct section (7a) in the area of the vertex (11) of the angle (W1) that is enclosed by the duct sections (7a, 7b), and/or the duct sections (7a, 7b) are surrounded by a protective wall (13a) at least along one portion of the length thereof, said impact wall (13) and/or protective wall (13a) being made of a material that is more wear-resistant than the material of which the cannula shaft (3) is made.
