Method for inducing flowering in a plant (A), or cell that can be regenerated to (A), by transformation of plant cells with a construct that contains a nucleic acid (I) encoding a protein (II) of the annexin family, optionally followed by regeneration, is new. Method for inducing flowering in a plant (A), or cell that can be regenerated to (A), by transformation of plant cells with a construct that contains a nucleic acid sequence (I) encoding a protein (II), or its active fragment, of the annexin family, under control of one or more regulatory sequences, functional in plants. The transformed cells may then be regenerated to form a transgenic plant. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) transgenic plant (A') with accelerated flowering; (2) tissue or organ, i.e. fruit, shoot, root, flower or seeds of (A'); and (3) reproducible structure from (A').
