Process for preparation of a light metal composite casting where the starting part comprising a first light metal alloy is joined to a second light metal alloy by casting, forming a composite layer in the contact region between the two alloys, and prior to casting the starting part (102) is given a coating (104) which during high temperature and high pressure casting forms an intermediate ductile plastically deformable layer (204) between the two alloys (202, 206).
