A reciprocating saw (15, fig 1) comprises a housing (20, fig 1), a motor, and a spindle (25, fig 2) supported for reciprocating motion relative to the housing. A counterweight assembly 135 is supported for movement relative to the housing, which substantially balances at least a portion of the movement of the spindle. An adjustment assembly 40 operates to adjust the movement of the counterweight relative to the housing. Preferably the adjustment assembly is connected to a rotary member. The adjustment assembly may define an eccentric axis (3-3, fig 13) at a position relative to the rotary axis (1-1, fig 13) of the rotary member, to adjust the stroke length of the spindle. An arm member 30 may be provided that has a drive end connected to the rotary member along the eccentric axis of the adjusting assembly, and a spindle end connected to the spindle. |
