PURPOSE: An LCD element having a sufficient storage capacitor is provided to form concavo-convex portions in a gate line, which generate a storage capacitor and a metal layer, and to increase overlapped areas between the gate line and the metal layer, thereby generating a desired storage capacitor size without deteriorating an opening ratio. CONSTITUTION: On the first substrate where a gate line(103) is formed, at least one of concavo-convex layers(126a,126b) is disposed. The concavo-convex layers(126a,126b) are made by accumulating and etching insulating materials or metals on the first substrate. The gate line(103) is deposited on the concavo-convex layers(126a,126b). A gate insulating layer is accumulated on the gate line(103). A metal layer(107) is deposited on the gate insulating layer. On the second substrate(130), a black matrix(132) and a color filter layer(134) are disposed. A liquid crystal layer(140) is interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate(130), to complete an LCD panel.
