PURPOSE: A lightweight Ascon packing material is provided, to improve lightweightness, water permeation and elasticity. CONSTITUTION: The lightweight Ascon packing material comprises 10-95 wt% of a foam which is obtained by pulverizing pearlite, vermiculite or their mixture and expanding the pulverized one rapidly at a temperature of 700-1,200 deg.C; 1-10 wt% of aggregate; and 4-7 wt% of asphalt. Preferably the pearlite or vermiculite foam has a size of 5-50 mesh.
