摘要 An optical amplifier having a tellurite glass as an optical amplification medium, characterised by comprising: a dispersion medium which is placed on at least one position in the front of or at the back of the optical amplification medium, wherein the dispersion medium compensates for dispersion of wavelengths by a value of chromatic dispersion that takes a plus or negative number opposite to a value of chromatic dispersion for the optical amplification medium. In the figure, an optical signal enters from the left and exits from the right of the optical amplifier. Input signal light passes through optical isolator 201a and then, combined with excitation light from excitation light source 202, through optical coupler 203. Then the combined signal light passes into optical fiber 205 for optical amplification after passing through a dispersion medium 204. Signal light amplified by optical fiber 205 is then outputted through optical isolator 201b. <IMAGE>
