The brake system has a main air container line (1) supplied by a compressed air generator (2) and a main air line (4) supplied via an indirect brake valve (3) from the generator. Two compressed air lines (24,25) are fed to each bogey; a first line (24) is connected to the main air container line via a blocking valve (7), a non-return valve (5) and a compressed air container (6) and supplies the direct brake valves (8,10). A second line (25) is connected directly to the main air line and supplies a lubrication system (16) and other functions. The operation of the brake valves and ancillary functions is controlled by a central electronic brake control unit (20) via a brake data bus. The control unit receives signals from a driver operated control device (22) and from a mechanism (23) for determining the current status of the train, e.g. its length, speed, weight and braking mode. |
