The plug position monitor has a trigger element (6) that activates a sensor element (7) when the electrical plug connector (1) is in the correctly plugged-in condition and a signaling device that outputs a signal when the sensor element is activated. The trigger element consists of a contact element and the sensor element forms an electrical socket when the correct plugged-in situation exists.
