The arrangement (10) has a number of mutually parallel stacked electro-dialysis cells (16,17). The cells are assembled from adjacent plate-shaped elements. Elements of a first type (20a,20b) form electrodes. Elements of a second type (22a,22b) form distance elements with an inner opening to form a chamber. A series of first and second element types is formed with an intermediate ion-specific membrane (34).
