PURPOSE: A field emission display is provided to achieve improved chemical and mechanical stabilities by using GaN nanotubes as field emission tips. CONSTITUTION: A field emission display comprises a base substrate(10) having a cathode electrode layer(12) formed on the surface of the base substrate; a plurality of GaN nanotubes(20) formed upright on the cathode electrode layer by permitting GaClx gas and NH3 gas to react in the temperature range of 400 to 600 Deg.C; a transparent substrate(40) opposed to the base substrate, and which has an anode electrode layer(42) formed on the surface opposed to the base substrate; an insulating spacer(30) interposed between the transparent substrate and the base substrate in such a manner that the transparent substrate and the base substrate are spaced apart from each other; and a phosphor layer(44) formed on the anode electrode.
