A cord composed of a plurality of yarns of differentphysical properties twisted together helically is characterized in that a yarn of said plurality having a higher modulus in its non-twisted state is provided with an amount of residual twist in the cord that is greater than the residual twist of another of the yarns having a lower modulus such that load-at-apredetermined elongation of the respective yarns in the cord is substantially equal. The twist of the material having the lowest modulus is preferably zero. An equation for determining the number of residual twists per inch is provided. In the Specification the term "modulus" is understood to connote a load at a specified elongation. |
