PURPOSE: A drum-type washing machine is provided to easily clean a washing tub and to clearly check that detergents or molds are removed by a user. CONSTITUTION: A drum-type washing machine(1) is composed of an outer tub(7) for storing water in a washing operation; a drum(10) installed in the outer tub and rotated about a rotary shaft(11) set within the predetermined angle for the horizontal direction to wash the laundry; an opening unit(23) disposed at the outer tub to take in and out the laundry received in the drum; a drum cover(25) arranged at the peripheral side of the drum and opened and closed in taking in and out the laundry from the drum; a lock unit for locking a rotary position of the drum at the position where the drum cover is opposite to the opening unit; and a special mode set unit for setting a special mode for rotating the drum by releasing the drum locked by the lock unit.
