PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for processing a color signal are provided to not only solve the problem that a changed color signal is escaped a color bandwidth capable of representing in a display and but also process easily the color signal without having a memory stored the coordinate value of the color bandwidth. CONSTITUTION: A luminance_chrominance signal converting unit(301) converts an inputted image signal into a luminance_chrominance signal. When in a color space of YCbCr, color and luminance are maintained and chrominance signal, that is, CbCr signal, is changed, a change ratio detecting unit(303) detects the change ratio of the chrominance signal. An RGB color signal converting unit(305) converts YCbCr signal into an RGB signal for displaying a display unit(315). A searching unit searches an RGB signal changed in the color space of the RGB color signal according to the change of the color signal.
