PURPOSE: A crosslinked alkyd polyesters for medical applications is provided to be used in making a medical apparatus and composition and to be biodegradable and biocompatible. CONSTITUTION: The crosslinked alkyd polyesters for medical applications comprises a biodegradable and biocompatible synthetic polymer containing a reaction product of polybasic acid and derivatives thereof, monoglyceride and hydrophilic polyol and having at least one crosslinkable area. The polybasic acid and derivatives thereof are selected from the group consisting of succinic acid, succinic anhydride, malic acid, tartaric acid, citric acid, diglycolic acid, diglycolic anhydride, glutaric acid, glutaric anhydride, adipic acid, adipic anhydride, pimelic acid, suberic acid, sebacic acid, fumaric acid, maleic acid, citraconic acid, itaconic acid, maleic anhydride, mixed anhydride, ester, activated ester and acid halide.
