PURPOSE: A steel sheet and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to prevent a degradation of etching speed and achieve improved magnetic characteristics and creep resistant characteristics by controlling the amount of C, Mn, N, Sol.Al, and V. CONSTITUTION: A steel sheet for a tension mask comprises, by mass%, C 0.01% or lower, Mn 2% or lower, N 0.004 to 0.018%, Sol.Al less than 0.005% and V 0.005% or lower, and an expression 0.0055<=£Mn|x£N|is satisfied, wherein £M| denotes content(mass%) of element M. A method for manufacturing a steel sheet for a tension mask comprises a step of producing a steel sheet by hot rolling the steel having a composition of C, Mn, N, Sol.Al and V; a step of cold rolling the steel after hot rolling; and a step of annealing the steel in an annealing furnace.
