PURPOSE: A data error preventive method in an IP-based real time facsimile transmission is provided to, when performing T.38 protocol IP(Internet Protocol) based real time facsimile transmission service, convert sequence numbers of input and output data and transmit/receive the changed sequence numbers in a facsimile signal processing unit of each media gateway. CONSTITUTION: When a CNG(CalliNG) tone is inputted, a facsimile signal processing block receives the CNG tone, reports it to a control block(S50), and increases the reception frame counter from '0' to '1'(S51). The control block transmits a CNG tone detection confirm message to a facsimile signal processing block(S52). The facsimile signal processing block discards the frame of the CNG tone and reports the CNG tone detection result to a soft switch(S53). When a CED(CallED) tone and a V.21 tone are produced and a facsimile call is connected, a data transmission is started. The facsimile processing block buffers the received UDPTL(facsimile User Datagram Protocol Transport Layer protocol) frame and transmits the sequence number of the buffered UDPTL through the IP network(S54-S56).
