摘要 PURPOSE: Provided is a cathode active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, which has high initial discharge current, low irreversible capacity and high output at high and/or low temperature. CONSTITUTION: The cathode active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a lithium-metal composite oxide represented by the formula of Lix(Ni(1-y), Coy)1-zMzO2 (wherein x is 0.98-1.10, y is 0.05-0.4, z is 0.01-0.2, and M is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Al, Mg, Mn, Ti, Fe, Cu, Zn and Ga). Additionally, the cathode active material has either of both of: (i) C-content of 0.14 wt% of less as measured by high frequency heating-IR absorption method; and (ii) Carl-Fisher water content of 0.2 wt% or less upon heating at 180 deg.C.
