PURPOSE: A device and method for controlling an airbag is provided to improve the stability of an airbag unit by preventing the airbag from being inflated in vehicle manufacturing, assembly and repairing process. CONSTITUTION: A device for controlling an airbag is composed of a battery(BA) for supplying electric power to each part of an airbag unit, a buckle sensor(5) for detecting whether a driver and passengers wear a seat belt, a connector(7), and a control module(10). The connector is connected to a hi-scan tool or an airbag unit setting tool when a mode of the airbag unit is set. The control module prevents the airbag from being inflated in vehicle manufacturing, assembly and repairing process, and controls the normal inflation of the airbag.
